Is there any chance that Australia Post could be prevailed upon to provide some high resolution scans from archival stock to assist in populating the wiki?

It seems that if they have, for example, even a half sheet of some of the higher values, a single scan of that could greatly speed up the populating of the wiki.

I guess there's the question of would it also assist forgers, but any image we add to the wiki already has that risk.

Does anyone have sufficient goodwill with them to make such an approach?

Before my Harrison imprint block up for the bushfire appeal auction goes to a new home, do you have the stamps in the wiki?

1d reds aren't my speciality, and I note the original certificate states panes 5&6 but plate 4, which someone, not me, has corrected to plate 3.

If you need high res scans I can do them but would like confirmation of the identification.

Hi Ken,
Your Harrison block is a nice item for the auction and indeed it is Right Plate 3 ....or panes 5 & 6.
The notch in the right frame opposite the emu's leg confirms the position as 6/55.

From 21st-Century-Auctions ebay website here's an example of BXXIII 5-6. 5 is not in the wiki - the upper compartment is the only flaw.

b) Right frame: The outside of the frame is irregular from right wattle stem to Emus tail;
c) Bottom frame indented 7mm and 13½mm from bottom left corner;
d) Left frame notched 9mm and 11mm down from top left corner.

This was UCV171 in Bills book, he has confirmed the plating.

a) Diagonal linear flaw from line above jewel band to wattle spray cutting through the second leaflet down at the right of the leaf
b) The base of the second curve above the crown jewel band is joined to the band

2R24

18th line counting up of the shading at the left of the left value shield broken to the left of centre, 4 mm from left of frame.

2R12 Stage 3

a) Value table: deterioration of the retouch, scattered flaws obliterate parts of the letters and the column of shading at the left of the tablet. A more distinct flaw runs from the white border of the left value shield to the shading just above the F of Four.

DESCRIPTION

The left value tablet has a break in its left frame opposite the 9th and 10th shading lines up from the bottom frame. There is a coloured dot in the white border of the tablet at the same level giving the appearance of a kink in the white border. A coloured dot joins the right ends of 10th and 11th shading lines up from the bottom frame to the left of the left value tablet.

Halfpenny, Plate 2, R26: Cluster of white spots in the margin under the right 2.

[This is illustrated in the composite image of Dix and Rowntree, labelled as "2R26(b)" but isn't in the main listing. The image for this postion shows the flaw perfectly.]

Same with halfpenny 2R10, also shown in the composite D&R image but not in the main listing. Again, the image in the wiki shows the flaw clearly. Irritatingly, it's almost the same flaw:

Row of white dots in the margin under the right 2. (Compare with 2R26.)

DESCRIPTION

Small horizontal oval white spot joining the legs of the kangaroo commencing 1mm above the base of the legs.

Narrow break in left frame 9.5mm below top left corner. Sometimes over-inked.

Colour spot in the left white margin joining the frame to the left end of the 3rd free shading line below the left wattle stem.

Very narrow break in the right frame 8mm above the bottom right corner. It is very hard to see in this example.

This example was listed on Ebay by Aussiebanker.
