May 2020 Cover Exchange Participant List

To all of those that want to participate in the Cover Exchange. I have added/modified some of the rules because of the special situation that we are in at this time.

If you are willing to participate, you must be aware of the safety procedures that your country's postal authority has taken. Furthermore, you are aware of the risk that you are taking and as a result no one else will be responsible for your choice, but you.

If at any moment you decide to opt out of the exchange, you will not be held accountable for your choice.

Last, due to the covid-19 pandemic NO participant is required to go into the post office to get a hand cancelled cover/s. The cover/s may be dropped into a mailbox/postbox if a participant doesn't want to go inside a post office. Regarding stamps, I will leave this up to the participants.

This thread is only for listing your participation and for sending and receiving acknowledgements.

Scans of your covers must be placed on the Cover Exchange Group - Scans Thread Only.

I will try to put the list together by the 10th.

Please add your name to the list if you want to participate in the Cover Exchange.

The Rules are:

1. Stampboards member for 60 days.

2. Minimum 60 posts made on Stampboards.

3. Agree to use current Commemorative stamps (unless, participants decide otherwise) on mailed covers and place a stiffener inside each cover. A stiffener can either be a piece of card (something like a card from a cereal box) or several pieces of paper folded to fit inside an envelope.

4. You must make a post on the thread, to let your exchange partner know, when you are sending and have received covers.

5. If you do not mail a cover to your exchange partner, you will not be able to participate in the cover exchange until the recipient notes it has arrived. If you do not mail a cover to your cover exchange partner for the second time, you will be permanently banned from further exchanges. Admin agrees with this rule, and will be notified of any such members.

6. You must post images on the thread of the covers received for the interest of sender and other members. It is safe to assume all members have some access to a scanner, digital camera, or a phone with which you can take pictures. High quality images are not the point – but SOME image is what is sought!

Just a reminder to new participants. When mailing a cover you should ask yourself, would I like to receive what I am mailing out to my cover exchange partner?

I can't speak for other members, but Canada has not issued any stamps since the beginning of March (Dahlias booklet singles and a Dahlias souvenir sheet). I can't participate if there are no current issues for you to select from. But if there is something that you are interested in from the past issues, pleas let me know?

Hope all is well. Maybe the exchange should be put on hold for this month and re-assessed next month. It may just be too hard with all the lockdowns around the world at present.

I don't think the postcard exchange is much different but if there are members still willing I am more than happy to proceed.

All good here thanks. When this exchange kicks off don't go to any extra effort with the stamp/s you want to use. Whatever you have at hand is fine with me.

Now Kenneth is in, the same applies, and if we just send each other a cover that would be fine. Hopefully a couple of other regulars join in late but I fully understand if people want to wait.

I think it will be a while before we see covers turning up at any rate.

I think we have been really well managed so far here. In WA we only have a handfull of covid cases left with only one new case in about 8 days. My only concern is that we aren't even in the flu season just yet so it could all go belly up.

For this reason these exchanges are not a problem, but realise it's a different story in other parts of the world so as I stated above don't go to any trouble and stay safe.

Hi guys, I just received my April cover to John back with a sticker saying "Postal route closed". A little odd because I posted it as far as I am aware before they closed some routes, but maybe they just sat on it. I am not sure what to do now. I will of course post another (but when), and I wouldn't mind joining for May, but will they go anywhere?

I have delayed responding to this post on purpose. I am very sorry about that!

Why? I was waiting to see if I can get the newly released stamps today at a PO that is open on Sundays, but they had none. I will try tomorrow at a Canada Post corporate outlet, fingers crossed that they have them. If not, I will still send John the From Far and Wide definatrives on two covers. But I don't know what I can send Philexx?

Hi Mark, Far and Wide is fine for me too, or failing that anything you have to hand is fine, even from 2019 where I would be happy with some Turtles or the Apollo issue if some are still on your desk.

I have just put an order in for the new issues in Germany and there are some nice ones this month

I would love to join in, but we are experiencing huge delays in letters from outside EU-8, US, UK and Canada. Some from NZ, India havent arrived since beginning March.

Sorry, that you can't join the May exchange. However, I hope that you can take part in the June exchange!

I can't speak for other participants, but I am definitely interested in the Swiss Covid-19 stamp. How many Covid-19 stamps do you need to cover the cost of international mail? If it's two or three, I am sure that we can get three participants.
